Fast-food chains are among the most popular go-to restaurants anywhere in the world.
Why would it not be? If you go to a fast-food restaurant, you would have a wide selection of the usual favorites, like chicken and burger, sold at an affordable price. And did we already mention that they serve fast?
But did you notice that the big franchises like McDonald’s, KFC, Wendy’s, and Burger King, all originated from America?
It seemed to be an industry that was very hard to infiltrate if you did not have the American palette.
That was up until there was Jollibee.
The Philippines’ favorite fast food
In the Philippines, Jollibee is arguably the country’s favorite fast-food chain.
From its humble roots in Sta Cruz Manila, it has proven its resilience even after the arrival of McDonald’s in 1981.
Filipinos continued to patronize the franchise up to this day, which has over a thousand branches in the country.
The business has also penetrated the international markets with over 200 branches operation overseas. This penetration is an achievement, a rare feat to be able to compete against the fast-food chain giants.
There is no secret to how Jollibee achieved the success that it is enjoying now.
Their formula is the same as the other successful franchises, fast, delicious, and affordable food.
They only added one more thing, focusing their flavors to appeal to the Filipino taste.
Among the signature products of Jollibee is the Chicken Joy that promises a juicy bite. The flavorful Yumburger in a lot of variations. And the children’s favorite, a Filipino style sweet Jolly Spaghetti.
These are common fast-food dishes, but with a rich and distinct Filipino flavor in each one.
If you happen to pass by a Jollibee branch in your country, you would see the iconic red bee mascot inviting you to go inside.
If you do get to try their food, let us know your thoughts!
